A former No. 1 tennis player from Sweden
From 1982 through 1988, Mats won seven
Grand Slam singles titles (three at the French
Open, three at the Australian Open, and one at
the US Open), and one Grand Slam men’s
doubles title (at Wimbledon). He completed
1988 ranked number 1 in the world.  Inducted to
International Tennis Hall of Fame 2002.  Played
on Sweden’s Davis Cup Championship Team in
1984, 1985, & 1987.  Captained Sweden’s
Davis Cup Team from 2007-2009.
Graduate United States Naval Academy 2003. 
Captain of Naval Academy’s tennis team in
2002 and in 2003.  Played #1 at Naval
Academy.  Served as “Captain of the
Captains” of all sports teams 2003.  Inducted
to Naval Academy Sports Hall of Fame 2003. 
Currently playing ITF Futures events.
