Welcome!
The Cascades Tennis Group (CTG) is a collection of adult tennis players who reside in the Cascades Community in Potomac Falls, Virginia.
It is a great way for Cascades residents to meet compatible tennis players, play more
tennis, and develop their game.
With over 125 registered players, it is Cascades’ best resource to find match partners.
Players of a variety of skills play for fun, fitness, and/or competition.
The CTG coordinates several tennis activities for community adults, including:
        - Social Tennis
        - Mixed Singles Ladder. and
        - Advanced Mixed Team Tennis
CTG members also take a vested interest in keeping all of the Cascades courts in tip top
shape.  Members take pride and ownership by being vigilant about its care and maintenanace as well as its proper use, i.e., strictly tennis only; no
skateboarding, street hockey, bicycling, etc.
Members adhere to rules set forth by the Cascades HOA and observe common tennis etiquette as courtesy to all tennis players.
If you are a tennis player and a Cascades resident, you are welcome to join us.
CTG History and News Updates
Cascades Tennis Group was formed in 2005 as a way for community adults to
meet other tennis players in the community. The group is managed by dedicated
volunteers spearheaded by Michele Kalin.  Currently the group consists of over
125 registered members. There is no cost to join the group.
Since its inception, the CTG has worked to form a partnership with community
management to enhance the tennis experience in the community, including
notifying management of court maintenance to ensure courts are kept in good
playing condition and working to ensure this valuable amenity is maximized.
The group also strives to provide leadership by example to ensure community
court rules and tennis etiquette is abided by so all tennis players can enjoy the
community courts.  In addition, CTG members are encouraged to take ownership
of the courts by providing on-court maintenance such as emptying trash and
regularly sweeping detritus.
In 2007 the group launched social play to provide in-community tennis playing opportunities. Initially planned for one evening per week, social play was
quickly expanded to two nights as it proved to be quite popular with the number of participants exceeding available court space. To date, social tennis
remains the only adult activity in our community.
2008 social play was expanded to three nights per week with a different format each night to accommodate more players at a variety of skill levels.
In 2008 the CTG launched this website outlining the group’s activities and charter.  The group also maintains a password-protected players database and a
private, online threaded discussion group to enhance communications.
2008 also marked a banner year for CTG for persuading the HOA to fund and install lights at the Stonehouse courts.  Tennis under the stars in the Cascades
is finally a reality.  This is a landmark accomplishment for CTG and for all tennis enthusiasts in the community!  Credit goes to the CTG leadership and all
the volunteers for all their hardwork.
In 2009 the group added the Cascades Team Tennis, competitive intra-community league play, to the activities it offers to the community.
In 2010, former ATP Number 1 player and 7-time Grand Slam Singles Winner, and Hall of Famer Mats Wilander and his colleague ITF Futures player
Cameron Lickle came to us and held clinic on our very own courts!  It made for a memorable once in a lifetime event for all participants and attendees.  We
also have inter-community tennis with other tennis groups like the one at Broadlands.
The CTG is pursuing with the HOA additional items such as new nets; squeegees and brooms (or replacements); picnic tables, benches, or chairs; and
portable restrooms adjacent to the courts.
On May 15, 2010, Former ATP #1 player, 7-time Grand Slam Singles
Winner, and Hall of Famer Mats Wilander and his colleague ITF Futures
player Cameron Lickle came to us and held a clinic on our courts for a once
in a lifetime tennis experience.
